Accommodations

The Battle Lake Motel has 12 rooms to offer.  We offer 5 rooms with 2 double beds, 5 rooms with one queen bed, and 2 rooms with king sized beds.

On this page we will provide as much information as possible about each type of accommodation we offer. We strive to have each one of our rooms be uniquely decorated and spotlessly clean. Our staff will take great care of you while you stay with us, whether on vacation with your family or traveling on business. The Battle Lake Motel & RV Park IS your Vacation Destination!

Room Features

We have three different types of room. Each one has both a hallway entrance and an outside entrance.  All rooms are airconditioned and have cable tv.  They also all have small decks.  Here are some photos of our rooms.

Here is one of our rooms with two double beds.

A kingsize bed with us is better than your brother-in-laws' couch!  Our slogan is "The Lakes Area's Spare Bedroom" and we mean it.  If you are visiting relatives and friends try sleeping in your own room, waking up to your own shower, and having a free cup of coffee before heading over to visit.  Wake up rested, not tested.

This is our fish cleaning house. Stainless steel sinks, we have wood, formica, stericlean, plastic, laminate cutting boards (whatever you like!). Plastic bags for the catch (put them in our freezer), paper towels for clean up. Plus, it doubles as a night smoking lounge.

Our selection is limited but we have Hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts and hats for sale in the lobby. Also, Wake and smell the coffee. FOLGER's Coffee and creamer is available for free in the lobby in the morning.

In late June, 2005, a series of damaging wind storms struck Ottertail County. To our north along Ottertail Lake many resorts were shut down due to a lack of water or electricity. We were able to host them because our water heaters run on propane, and we were able to connect to Ottertail Power Co.'s power from across the road. Then when the Ottertail grid went down we shifted over to Lake Region.

We have also switched to compact flourescent lights throughout the motel. We also replaced some of the window air conditioners with new low energy ones that seem to produce the same number of btu's.

Now our only vulnerability was due to our oil furnace in the winter. First, last year we spent $5,500 on oil. Second, the furnace was not very efficient. Now we have switched to renewable wood heat. We purchased a Central Boiler Outdoor Wood Furnace. Made right over in Greenbush, Minnesota, by people that know about real winters, its a great unit. It can run on my power inverter. Thus we now less vulnerable to power outages, and Middle Eastern oil.

We are trying to be a "green motel." We even have a solar panel for the fish house this year.
